Alison- I think the majority of us are still dying to see the CNN show or the content that was made to support it, even 2 years later. Will there ever be a chance?!

Please don't stop writing these posts. You are so talented, and I think it would truly break my heart if you moved on to tiktoks and the like. It takes courage to be this vulnerable with all of us. It's like you are the Taylor Swift of Home Movies, interesting podcasts, and Recipes that become standards in the repertoire. Ahh Shallot Pasta (Alison's Version) anyone? We all feel like we know you and we are here for you through all your eras.

Ugh. I am so sorry to hear you put some much hard work and passion into the show and that it did not pan out. Are you able to sell it elsewhere? I hope so. In the meantime, know that you have so many big fans out there. You can't see us, but we're here, you nourish us!

They can pry my words and my still images from my cold, dead hands! (And I’ll continue to use Canva to make my Reels because the in-app interface on IG is a nightmare.) Anyway, YAY SOUP!

Keep this thought front and center: Stanley Tucci is cancelled as well.

I have spent the last couple days hoping that my farmer’s market surprise veggie basket will have squash so that I can make squash soup and then THIS recipe drops? I hope you keep doing what you do because I am definitely so grateful and excited to see it!

My heart hurts for you and your hard work but my soul is rejoicing for this delicious soup. Hang in there, I know many don't like this phrase but many turns in my life have caused me to reflect on that “everything happens for a reason”. Hang in there and please continue to inform and treat us with your beautiful writing and delicious recipes!

Thank you for this newsletter post, Alison. As a former writer/editor in "traditional media aka TV", who's not sure what to do next (and who loathes TikTok), it inspires me to know that there are others in this position....where to go from here? Please know that anything and everything you do is magic, and absolutely worthwhile. Your writing is brilliant, your books are phenomenal, and your Home Movies will be played on repeat forever more. Sending so much love!

And when all the cars have the blue screen of death and won't operate, won't we be glad we still have horse and buggies?;)

Social media makes me nauseous and I won't participate,

But I do love cooking !

I love reading your cookbook "Dining In" and get inspiration and comfort and entertainment from your Home Movies!

So thanks Sis! You are delightful in my Book!

This newsletter episode (edition? volume?) reminded me why I subscribed. You have a voice and a personality that comes through whatever media you inhabit. You rock.

Hand to God, I literally just took a grocery delivery an hour ago with ingredients for a different squash soup recipe, and I guess that recipe can go fuck itself because would you look at this yumminess!!!

Alison, I have followed you for a few years, bought your cookbooks for myself, my daughter, my DIL, also subscribed to this newsletter. But I unsubscribed in November because you didn’t provide newsletter content and I didn’t want to give you $50 for a year of disappointment. This post though made me resubscribe. For me, if you share your anxieties as you have, especially wrapped around a soup recipe, I’m in. Your writing is lovely & clever & we are privileged to listen to what it’s like navigating fame & fortune with your gifted honesty. Maybe spend a good chunk of 2024 off camera and just write and cook? My children are between your age; I say life is long & you’re in your prime, make the most of it!
