Is prime rib too much for four people? It is our tradition, but we have a small group this year. Is there a better option for a small group?

Nope. They make good leftovers!

Denise, if you didn't want to make a prime rib for just 4 people, you could consider making beef short ribs that work great for a smaller group. Alison has an excellent recipe in her Nothing Fancy cookbook that is delicious. I've made them with other recipes and they always turn out great and are a crowd pleaser.

Recommendations on what to serve with ham (separate from the wonderful ham party accoutrements)?

Hi Alison! Holiday apps question for you. I have some puff pastry to use up and will probably make some pigs in a blanket but wondering if you have any other fun ideas?! I love everything you do, happy holidays!

A pot pie could be a good way to use some puff pastry!

Making prime rib for Christmas for the first time! 2 questions:

1. How much would you recommend per person? Most of what I'm reading says about 1lb pp (bone in) but others say less (.5lb) or more (1.5-2lb)! What are your thoughts for bone in vs boneless? Hoping to do bone in but haven't bought it yet!

2. What sauces do you usually serve with it? Au jus? Horseradish cream sauce? (I'm not a huge horseradish fan). Something else like bernaise or bordelaise? Would love suggestions as I'm thinking of making a few options.

Thanks :) and happy holidays!

I'm travelling to my parents' house for christmas (meaning I am staying in their house) and I normally do all of the cooking. My mom is catering dinner this time "to make it easier on me" when secretly I cook because I am a severe introvert. What on earth do I do with my time? Halp!

Learn to crochet! It’s very simple to make hats or scarfs. Gives me something to do with my hands while I listen to other people talk

That's a great idea. I used to crochet with my grandmother! I was also thinking of bringing a puzzle to work on.

Alison has a great prime rib recipe - anchovies rubbed rib roast. I didn’t need any sauce other than the juices from the roast. The anchovy rub makes it sooo delicious.

I have 3 strapping boys and a husband so I need a pound per person (bone in). If you are not serving big eaters I think half a pound pp is enough.

I am wondering if you think that the chocolate pudding can be made a day ahead of time?

Hope you are having a great holiday season. My local butcher is not getting their Berkshire ham in for New Year. They have a boat load of decent spiral. Total blasphemy to do fennel rub on a spiral?
