You went to all the places I love in the 11th--my favorite arrondissement in paris. If you can and if you haven't een do try Le Baratin in the 20th. Sangeeta
I happened upon Les Enfants du Marché when I was there last May and loved it. We sat at the counter and didn't have food, but can attest that everyone there is attractive and nice.
I also love Septime La Cave and go there on each visit - my favorite spot is to stand outside in the window. The staff there is so nice and made me feel so welcome when I posted up at the bar by myself in 2018. I have a tote bag from here and people always call it out in a semi IYKYK kind of way.
Aux Deux Amis has been on my to-visit list forever!
Tbh the perfect shade of neutral but not boring cream is Dimity by Farrow & Ball. -Hyland (We did mushrooms together and played pool after a sky ting party) Hope you are doing well lol!
Alice in Paris was a show I loved. So clever and she went to many charming places in the city profiling them subtly. I miss those days before crazy soc med.
I am "haunted" by a trout lunch I had at the Brown Derby long enough ago to be an embarrassment to say when. Just really hopped in to say I had a look at your brisket recipe on YouTube and am excited to give it whirl. Shallots you say... I'm so looking forward. happy holiday.
I love this take. Honestly, I hate how entitled the Internet has made so many of us. I feel this every time I post a photo of an outfit I feel particularly good in and people pepper me with requests to know where every single piece I'm wearing is from. This commodification of EVERYTHING —this feeling that since we're posting and sharing we are obligated to not "gatekeep"— is a big part of the reason why I don't post much to Instagram anymore. I appreciate the discourse!
Incredibly well said — I travel internationally about 2-3 year for work (and then tacking on personal time somewhere adjacent) and feel such a tremendous pressure to Try It All and Eat All The Empirically Best Things because time and money are finite and I have failed to get anything lesser then The Best! A great deal of it is from social media and best/first commenter mentality, but so much of it is self-imposed pressure (and subsequent guilt) for being solely responsible for my own enjoyment and maximization of time and resources. Paris, especially, is THE city to just stumble upon the most magical meals and evenings of your life.
I'm going to Tokyo, Osaka, and Seoul soon, and I'll need to carry this lesson with me — release the reins and follow the vibe, because odds are that any random sushi, ramen, or soba spot I happen upon in any given neighborhood will be heads above anything I'll get at home...and the experience itself and the freedom from self-imposed, high pressure decision-making is the actual vacation.
Worth noting, though, that I went to Clown Bar after seeing it on your feed and it did end up being one of the most special, mentally quiet self-care moments of my time in Paris. Mokonuts is also such an absolute gem!
Did you go to Tuile a Loup? My favorite place in the world?

The picture of the sole gives me an immediate flashback to Julia Child’s first meal in France - sole - which started her love for French food.
As a non-fish eater, is it REALLY that good?
Co-sign all sentiments re: recs, “gatekeeping,” entitlement, NEEDING to know/share, keeping our individuality.

I live in Paris in the 11th so I’m good and you’re great.
It's a lot of work to put a list like this together. Thank you so much!
I love your shirt! (And Jeremy’s too, lol)
There’s a Sézane in NYC for those who aren’t going to Paris :).

I remember that Pizza fury-gate! People were hot about it. I feel like @thisoakhouse / Annie will have the right answer re: paint, fwiw.

Well now I need to go since I haven't been in close to 50 years
