These corduroy overalls are the best and have helped bridge the gap during both of my winter pregnancies between casual legging outfits and formal dress outfits - Poshmark has a bunch of sizes: https://posh.mk/qSPW6gnirPb
Nothing to add about current options since I haven’t been pregnant in a very, very long time, but I remember when I was pregnant with my son in the early 90s. I swore I would never wear black stirrup pants again. They were seemingly all I wore after a certain point. (The late part of my pregnancy with my daughter was in warmer months. Gap pocket tees were my go to.)
Dear Alison, there is a solution to “chic maternity wear” that is also a solution to chic non-maternity wear. Issey Miyake Pleats Please is comfortable, washes in the machine, lasts decades (I speak from experience) and stretches to accommodate pregnancy while looking equally good when you are not pregnant. (I speak from experience.) There are pull-on trousers, skirts and a myriad of tops/tunics/hoodies/dresses in lots of colours. It’s a bit more expensive than, say J Crew, but not massively so, and worth every penny.
I have two pairs! Was able to wear them up until maybe 6+ months, then even the pleated elastic got a little tight and would leave marks on my skin (also looked not as flattering)
I'm 7 weeks postpartum & highly relate! Why so many floral pink prints?! Old Navy was a lifesaver for casual wear and Quince for casual and work wear. I rented some good Hatch pieces on Nuuly and the only comfortable pants I found were the Anthro maternity colette ponte pants. There's a desperate opportunity for someone to solve maternity wear!
I absolutely loved reading this. Things have drastically changed and improved since I was pregnant more than 40 years ago. A close friend who was quite an able seamstress made three or four jumpers that we traded when each of us were pregnant. Looking back they were beyond hideous even though we didn’t realize it at the time. The fact was that you were supposed to hide your burgeoning belly and try to disguise your changing body. Ridiculous in hindsight. I think women look fantastic now baring all. I remember when Demi Moore was on the cover of Vanity Fair appearing naked except that fabulous diamond ring. I remember wondering how people could try and shame her for posing for the magazine. So silly. Women now just look beautiful including you Alison. Love that black dress, leggings with big shirts for comfort not to hide anything. If only we’d had more confidence and felt more confident at such an important chapter in our lives. Congratulations to you Alison for being so present for all your fans. Being pregnant definitely has its challenges but there’s more to come I’m afraid when the wee one appears! I know you’re up to the task though!! Congratulations and that baby will surely be well fed!
I’m not sure whether they ship to the US, but jolibump, a French brand from Marseille, have some really nice stuff that’s all made in Europe, great quality, and can be worn during or after pregnancy https://www.jolibump.com/eshop-vetements-de-grossesse-3

Love the way you are dressing. Don’t you just love your ClareV bag?
I love Sézane!! Try Bleusalt. Their clothes are super comfortable and versatile. Stretchy, soft, breathable…. Etc
