Where's the recipe??? I subscribed to this newsletter; actually paid money to receive content. Not to be asked to buy a book to receive a recipe.

Your subscription? It's wonderful, it's the absolute worst.

I am glad that I paid for a subscription. I enjoy Ms. Roman’s musings both written and on video.

The way I see it, the least I can do in return for all the incredible recipes I’ve already gotten from her free of charge is to subscribe. I feel the same way about David Lebovitz. Now, if only Stella Parks would start a Substack blog.

Maybe someday Carole will learn to be less of a whiny twat, but I’m doubtful. Good riddance! Go, run back to Mark Bittman where you belong.

Carole, just out of curiosity... do you not feel like, for your paid subscription, that you've actually received a pretty significant amount of serious, dedicated, informative content from Alison? I mean... she IS a cookbook author & food writer, so she's obviously **going to advertise her book here** ... why wouldn't she? Homegirl's gotta make a living, why can't she do so - on her own newsletter, that she writes & edits herself - any damn time she needs to? Its not like we don't get good content here... this newsletter is massive (to me... I've barely cracked the surface of how much information here there is to absorb)... So... i'm just wondering what the negativity is for. And also... just my 2 cents... isn't it kinda great to be able to support and celebrate a fellow woman's achievements? Isn't it a beautiful thing when we, as women, can lift each other up, champion each others' hard work & professional rigor, to delight in each others' moments of being able to make a wage & build economic independence? I'm happy to celebrate Alison's career, accomplishments & creations b/c she comes by it honestly. The woman **works.** How about we raise a toast to each other when any of us takes a risk on a professional or creative venture? A victory for one of us is a victory for all of us. That's the best way forward, I think. Women lifting UP other women, not grousing & nit-picking at barely-problematic, perceived (faux) short-comings. (Just a thought - not trying to be rude or insensitive to your concern). Peace to you, tho, no matter what! Have a great night! x.

I love everything about baking.

I am by nature patient so waiting doesn’t bother me especially since the house usually smells wonderful during the waits.

I weigh my ingredients (in grams) so no powder flying everywhere.

I pit cherries in the bottom of the sink or outside to contain the mess. I also recommend cutting and juicing blood oranges in the bottom of the sink if you prefer your kitchen to not look like a crime scene.

I am a night owl so during summer I bake and make jam after midnight.

I’ve had great success with your dessert recipes: brown butter buttermilk cake, blueberry tart, pistachio shortbread, so I’m eagerly anticipating receiving your new book.

Thank you for your help incredible recipes and for sharing your fun personality.

Absolutely love this part of the Eater review: “She describes her desserts as “a little wild-looking and decidedly unkempt,” and the book’s overall vibe follows suit: The photos showcase crumbs, paper plates, caramelized fruit goo, ripped apart strawberry cake, and shirtless people wearing short-shorts; everything looks like it’s being served at a picnic where everyone’s been drinking for several hours.” I’m pre-ordering a cookbook now! We borrowed the first two cookbooks from our local library & have been cooking many of the recipes along with our favs from our subscription. It’s not often a recipe makes me laugh, except for Alison Roman’s.

any chance the pictures of shirtless people wearing short-shorts are for the shortbread recipes? Sounds like an ideal 2023 trifecta
